Kids in the Kitchen

It is always a struggle to find time for connection with my kiddos when real life gets in the way. Laundry has to be done, food has to be prepared, and while cleaning is boring, it is a necessary evil that has to get done.

But in our household, we can make anything an adventure.

My mom brain gets muddied when the mental load is too heavy with have to’s and preparing for the want to’s that are so much better.

Creating New Traditions

Giving kids a space to create and discover in the kitchen has become one of our favorite traditions and the memories we have are priceless.

I hope these give you ideas to bring a little magic to your boring tasks, but more importantly, share what you try in your home! We are always looking for fun new things to try, and my brain has a constant list running of new wild things to add to our rotation.

My mother in law is the queen of finding new ways for us to play! While I live in the world of Pinterest and stare at my phone, my kids need to have something to look at and hold in their hands (and with mess, my phone is OFF LIMITS 🙂 )

This book was our launchpad into our adventures, and is a great place to start. I highly recommend it!

Putting the Fun in Functional

While we build new traditions that bring us together as a family, I am excited to find ways to put my happy little spin on it. Isn’t that the best part?!?!

First Step- find ways to include my kids in the kitchen in a way that makes them brave in trying new things and not crying at the supper table because “that looks weird”.

Second Step- Build on the tradition to make it our own!

These blog posts are all the ways that we have added our own flair to making magic happen in one of the areas that used to bring me the most dread.

I hope you will click through the posts and find something that gives you a starting point to add a little sparkle to the boring task of cooking!

I’m Keeli

My kids and I have to have busy hands and create tons of opportunities for fun and engaging activities that are cheap and build great memories.

Mess doesn’t exist, just opportunities for greatness. Trying to harness their creativity is the biggest challenge and greatest reward.

If you are looking for inspiration and want to play, I am happy you are here!
